ABOUT

Who We Are

BioMedical Industry Group Inc. is a Canadian medical device design and manufacturing  company proudly serving the North American healthcare market since 1996. We develop  innovative products to address challenging problems in the healthcare field to improve  infection control, efficiency, and safety and help save lives. Our products are Class 1  Medical Devices.

Our flagship product, UniPole®, is a single, non-telescopic IV stand for supporting medical  equipment. We have since expanded our product line to the UniPole® Series which  addresses hospital and patient needs from regular care to acute care to critical care. Our  applications include OR (Medical/Surgical), ER, CCU, CICU, CVICU, COR, ICU, MICU, PICU, NICU, PCU, PACU, HDU, MRI, Wards, Cancer/Dialysis/Other Clinics, Ambulatory  Surgery Clinics and homecare.

What Makes UniPole® Unique

We have three key features which make our UniPole® Series IV stands unique. Non-telescopic poles

Picture. Over the last 100 years, traditional IV stands have been telescopic – a narrower  inner pole descending telescopically into a wider outer pole. These stands have cavities in  which pathogens and biohazards can harbor. Infection control in hospitals is paramount  and infection control departments are demanding even stricter standards with the advent  of COVID and the specter of other RNA viruses globally. Our IV stands meet these  standards. UniPole® stands are all single, non-telescopic and cavity-free, that is why they  are called UniPole®! Our stands eliminate the joint where pathogens can reside.

UniPole® also has no knobs to interfere with pump and other medical equipment  placement.

Versatile hangers versus hooks

Picture. With traditional IV stands, there are typically 2, 4 or 6 hooks at the top of the pole. (Racks can be also be used at the top of the pole.) UniPole® has hangers which can be  placed along the entire height of the pole and in any direction with one hand. A key safety  feature of our moveable hangers is that liquids and other equipment can be turned away  from being directly above electronic devices, thereby keeping valuable equipment safe  from liquid spillage.

The hangers are also ergonomically friendly for nurses, and lock at whatever position they  are put in.

Space-saving nesting/stacking base

Picture. BioMed’s unique NestaBase® offers unparalleled stability and security. The  hexagonal shape of the base coupled with the superior quiet, smooth-rolling swivel casters  ensure the safety of patients and reduce tipping. In addition, the innovative shape allows  the nesting/stacking of the stands. This enables the stands to be: 1) transported together  easily helping porters and nurses, and 2) to be stored nested together, saving valuable  hospital space. We are the only IV stands on the market that can be stacked in either  direction. In addition, we are the only ones who can stack more than single IV stands. We  can stack our single, double and triple UniPole® stands!

Collaboration

From the inception of our company, collaboration has been key to our product  development. Collaboration is working together to achieve a common business objective.  In our case it is working with clinical and biomedical hospital staff to develop safer, more  efficient products to meet their needs and those of their patients. We have worked with  specialty hospitals, children’s hospitals and general hospitals to design, develop and  manufacture unique solutions to problems. These have been implemented on the floor in  general wards, OR/cardiac OR, Cath Lab, ICU (NICU, PICU, CICU, CVICU, CCU, SICU), PACU, HDU, HAU, clinics and others.

Modern technology can help solve the many challenges facing the next generation of  medical devices. With our university and corporate partners, we are on the leading edge of  solving these challenges.
